Screen or no Screen on a XTX!!!!!

I'm planning a little touring trip ( about 10 days ) through France this Easter, and was wondering whether a screen would make any difference on my XTX.

I've had screens on other bikes and they sometimes make wind and noise worst, so before I waste 80 was wondering whether anyone had some advice on screens.........Cheers

If you are running with the standard small screen then get the touring screen, it really makes a huge difference. No blast on your chest and you can cruise at a higher speed more comfortably. This is my bike.

Screens are a bit of a personal thing, one type doesn't suit everyone. Depends how tall you are, where you sit, what helmet you have, how fast you ride etc. I'd experiment first with whatever you can find (like card) taped/cable tied to the bike to see what your going to need (or borrow someone else's screen!) I've used old estate agent's for sale signs to cut up and experiment with in the past - which worked a treat!

Yeah thats a point........Ive often ridden friends bikes and got a completely different feel and sound coming from the screen.

I bought a screen and its made a huge difference. I was surprised how much really. 70mph was comfortable pre screen now 90 is the same. I don't think they look great but well worth it. I got mine mail order from Hein Gericke at Peterborough, roughly 45 delivered.

Hi I am also after a new screen (after testing mine out for strength against the road, it lost!).
I am really stuggling to find anything on the net though, I dont want a touring size screen as i only commute a few miles to work. and was more looking for cosmetic /ascetic improvements.

Any suggestions / links much appreciated

or suppose i will just have to go with the Yam standard one.

My local Yam dealer is closed today, but I'll go there tomorrow and see what they have to offer.

Options

Yamaha light blue touring screen 67.99 - Effectiveness - Excellent

Yamaha smoked touring screen (same as mine) 67.99 - Effectiveness - Excellent

Yamaha smoked small screen 61.99 - Effectiveness - Ok, still gets you in the chest

Puig touring screen 74.34 - Effectiveness - Ok, never spoken to anyone but I guestimate its not much better than the Yamaha mid one.

Thats your options except the standard small one (not a genuine screen but similar).

Take you pick
