TT GPS Mounting Bracket fit?
Hi there,
Just curious as to whether anyone has had any experience trying to mount a touratech GPS cradle ( specifically the Garmin 60 series one ) on the existing above dashboard rail? Will it fit without hitting the windshield? Or is an extension of sorts required? |

You do need one of those:

Then it's no problem to fit a TT GPS mount. I have done that with the TwoNav Aventure cradle from TT. HTH |

Made from sheet alloy, using the two pipe clamps that come with the TT bracket. You can buy a RAM mount, but the 13mm collet they provice sucks, mainly because the bar is 12.xm diameter!

Looks like I'll have to pick me up one of those extensions too!
This is the bracket: http://www.touratech.com/shops/008/p...baccd70fee8f91 Just curious, what else do I need to mount/connect if from the TT website? My strengths do not lie in GPS mounting I'm afraid so am unfamiliar which power cord set/RAM mount I need to mount it onto the extension. So far it seems I need: (1) TT Gps lockable mounting bracket (2) A Power cord ( is this included with the mounting bracket ) (3) Mounting bar extension (4) RAM/other mount for the bracket ( no idea which one ) Many thanks! And bless touratech for their wallet busting.... |

If I were you, I'd fit this unit to the crossbar, rather than making it fit to the GPS bar.

Ah! Brilliant, so the lockable mounting bracket can connect straight to the extension?
Think I will let a dealer have a go at hard wiring, will no doubt permanently immobilise the bike if I do it. Need it nice and neat too... Cheers |

How do you find the vibrations at the GPS with the full TT setup? I currently have a RAM mount attached to directly the bar above the clocks (with inner tube to make the clamp stick!) and the GPS is very buzzy at certain engine speeds. The TT cradles have damping build in, unlike the RAM system, and have two point fixing to the bike, but I'd like to know if it really works? There are a lot of vibes transmitted through the whole fairing assembly on the Z. |

Let me think about how I could make a movie to show you how the TT cradle works (I don't have a helmet camera, only my iPhone...) and I could show you what I mean. Or you just stick to your RAM Mount as long as you don't wanna lock your device to the cradle with a key. That was why I choose the TT one over the RAM. HTH |
