side panel colours

I'm thinking of changing the colour of the side panels on the Ten - what's your thoughts on it guys. This is just a mock-up.

Painting will result in chips and then it will look tatty especially as all those plastics are designed to take knocks. I say keep it stock. Good mock up though, I thought I was the only person that did that kind of thing!

I often mock things up before I get round to doing things for real then if I don't like it - well it isn't a major problem. Thanks for the input. I had the same concerns actually.

There's also one floating around with white panels, and JMo painted hers blue might be worth asking her for tips, 'cause that's survived rallying.

i painted the lower panels a few weeks ago
i left the top two as i wansnt sure about it and they are more likley to get scraped

any way if it it helps i used liqid sander as the panels are uneven
halfords plastic primer and then two topcoats of black

i intend to put some hard laquer on them you had to wait two weeks
but havnt got round to it

they have been covered in **** loads of times and washed ..and the paint finish is still good
i dont think touching up would ne a big deal if you had too

i think doing all the panels may be a bit too much ....just my opinion
i kind of likes the black grey black grey alternate
but i suppose black and grey go better together than the blue

only a suggestion ..if you do commit id try the bottom panels first and see how you feel
when you have seen it in the flesh so to speak

hope that helps

Yamaha Germany had the same idea, they launched a concept called "World Traveller" for the Tenere and the Super Tenere. They both have coloured side panels and windshields. Don't know if these parts come available soon or if it's a one-of only. But you can get the idea.

Personally I don't like them painted. The grey sits as a nice visual barrier between whatever colour the bike is and the black of the frame/wheels/forks.
