Morocco trip in May

I am taking a trip to Morocco in May, dates will be around Friday the 6th to Monday the 16th (give or take and wandered if anyone else will be around or would like to join me for some or all of the trip. Objective for the trip is to cross the atlas, spend a night camped in the Sahara and return to Spain in one piece. I aim to do as many tracks as time allows without working too hard and have built in two rest days (possibly three), the itinerary is as follows;

1 Tangier to El Kebab Metalled road 388km
2 El Kebab to Tinerhir MH2 Tracks 241km
3 Tinerhir to Nekob MH4 Tracks 112km
4 Nekob to Zegora MS1 Tracks 121km
Zagora to Foum Zguid MS5 Tracks 130km
5 Foum Zguid to Tagounite MS7 Tracks 163km
6 Tagounuti to Tangier Metalled Road 920km
7 Spare day as needed
8 Spare day as needed
9 Spare day as needed
10 ferry to Spain

So it's pretty much a good ride with mostly tracks, only want to use asphalt when I need to make good time.

I am of reasonable fitness, have some offroad skills, have travelled extensively in Africa before, and am travelling on an XT660z which has been mildly modified to cope with this sort of trip.

Drop me a line if you'ld like to join for some or all of the trip.

Cheers,
TL

El Kebab sounds very funny, and that's why I checked it out last month, it's a dirty town without hotels. Kenifra has a few hotels but only beer in the most expensive one.
Zagora to Foum Zguid is only 30 km piste, rest is asfalt.

Cheers Mate, am starting to realise that I need to do some more research on the route, quite a few of the CS trails apear to have turned to asphalt.

Progress I guess

Agree with Dazzer, very sad that these pistes have turned to blacktops. Cool pics Dazzer. You do seem to travel light.

it's sad to have lost the off road route between Zagora and Foum Zguid.
By the end of this year the chance is that it will tarmac all the way.

This is how it was in 2007, 132 km of FUN in the Sun.

were off down there for 3 weeks in April and this year were trying some new route's that are not in the guide book's so hopefully they wont have had much use other than local's useing them.

Have a great Trip

Dazzer

ps ...Note my number plate missing in the last few photo's... I was getting carried away and riding a tad to quick when a dry river bed appeared ...to late to slow down so I jumped off the bank into it only to bottom out the suspension and the tyre hit the number plate and shattered it...

Now getting another number plate made in Morocco to look like a standered UK plate is another story lol
