Panniers XT 660 X

Not being an enormous fan of top-boxes or back-packs I would be grateful for a bit of advice on smallish hard panniers for my machine. The Kappa K21 Monokeys seem to fit the bill but I cannot seem to find any to have a look at "in the flesh" or better still a photo of them installed on the XT. Does anybody have any better suggestions, second hand ones, or photos of similar fitted panniers? What about saddle bags, are they any good? I shall not be touring with the XT as I have another machine for that purpose but some storage space would be very handy.

Thanks

It all depends on what you call a bit of space?

Theres quite alot of saddle bag options but they are not really secure and you wouldnt really want to be leaving them on your bike unattended for long anymore in this country.

As your thinking of the smaller options of panniers i think youve hit the nail on the head with the small kappa panniers, they are ideal for smaller items and you would probably not notice them if you did any type of riding. As for photographs im not too sure.

XT Panniers

I decided against the Kappa Panniers as the SW Motech Alu-rack and the soft luggage adaptor combined were 100 cheaper. I already have various soft luggage for my other bike so it makes sense.

The advantage of this system is that the luggage adaptor can be removed in a few seconds and you hardly notice the Alu-rack. A bit of a brute to fix due to my lack of skill in these matters but I am very pleased with the result.

Thanks for your help and rest assured I will not leave my soft luggage bag unattended for long!!
