Wheel spacers??

Today I planned to remove the front fork for a oil change and mounting of the 20mm spacers in the fork.
After lifting up the bike I loosen the wheel axle. But it felt like the fork were in tension and after the wheel axle were loosend the gap between the fork and the wheel spacers was quite big.
I hope you get what I meen..

Is it something that anyone else has noticed??
Is someone having there frontwheel off on a XTR off and can measure the distance between the forks???

According to the service manual the wheel spacers are in the correct position.
