I just fitted a 90% brighter halfords bulb. It was buy one get one free. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165582

To be honest, I can't tell the difference but I'm noticing more cars are dipping their internal rear view mirrors when I'm behind them.

You could fit some driving lamps ?

I have three pairs of light brackets here, specially built for the Tenere. As I'm about to work on an updated design you can have a set for 15 delivered (UK)

Halfords do cheap lamp sets that will fit -> http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165688

You can fit the brighter bulbs, some are better than others, and you might see some improvement (I saw a little), but it's not the output that is the problem it's the reflector array - it sucks! You've probably already noticed that when you align your dip, the main beam is out. The trouble is the relfector is one piece and not very well designed.

You can also fit HID kits, the guys who have these love them, but be aware that they do not conform to regulations in that you need to have automatic leveling and a power wash fitted.

I'd fitted a 35W Hid (H7 short bulb) to my old tenere and it gave a fairly impressive beam without too much over spill (HIDs can be quite poor in reflector lamps if not aimed well)
Note I used a short bulb with a metal base (obtained separately to the HID kit) as longer bulbs with plastic bases were giving a lot of scatter to the beam.
Easy to do and undo.
This may be slightly illegal and could fail an mot but as said easy to undo too so a quick swap back to a stock h7 bulb is possible and easy to do at the roadside on a 660z

I've fitted Phillips X-treme power. Still 55w but a big improvement on standard.
