Red face latest xt660x swingarm on earlier model??

greetings, anybody out there in interweb land happen to know if the later contoured xt660x swingarm will fit on earlier model (box section) arm without modification?

yes, but im told you need the change the brake pipe. the original is too short

right, ok, so assuming then that they are dimensionally the same (spindle widths, point to point of wheel centre to swingarm centre, caliper mounting etc), why would i need to lengthen the brake pipe?
not being pedantic, i just want to wake sure im not going to alter any steering dimensions (wheelbase etc) by doing this.
is it purely to clear the fatter swingarm?

so ive been told its only 5mm or so too short, so i would assume, its the width of the box section
