I was wondering if anyone on the xt-r install rim of xt-x? how it can be entered for approval or where to get the TUV certificate?

Yes it can be done. There are some threads floating around, do a search or wait for someone to post more info.

TUV approval is something you need to research locally, it's not an issue in Turkey

There is other technical thread
http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=4816&page=6

I have installed XT-X rim's to XT-R and I didn't have any problem get certificate for both tyres in Finland. I don't know about Slovenia law.

I just printed XT-R and XT-X technical specifications from Web-page and drove bike to local registration office.

Officer checked those specs and my bike with XT-X tyres. Because XT-X and XT-R are "parallel models" there wasn't any issue.

I got official registration certificate and there are written allowed tyres are
Front 90/90/R21 or 120/70/R17
Rear 130/80/R17 or 160/60R17

XTR Rims suitability for XTX

Can I fit XTR wheels onto my XTX (or convert my own wheels)? I am told by the local Yamaha dealer the front hubs are the same so looks like one can buy a rim & set of spokes & covert the front wheel. Not sure about the rear - is the 17" rear rim on the XTX the same as the one on the XTR? i.e. same width?

Not sure what year you are but the 2004 manual says
Rear Tyres
XTX 160/60 17
XTR 130/80 17
