2005 XTX cutting out!

Hi guys, i know this has been covered but there is so much on here and being a 2005 bike i was hoping someone could direct me to the thread i need. I bough a 2005 XTX about 3 months ago. The bike only had 1600miles on it and i was the third owner. I was well aware of the snappy fueling before i bought it and wasn't bothered once i test rode the bike. I figured this is why it had two previous owners and low miles. The bike is also running a two into one scorpion exhaust.
All has been great and i have done a further 1500miles in the time ive had it and its been great fun. Sadly the other day it cut out twice on me on the same day. Both times as i was stopping at a junction.
Basically i wanted to know is there a straight forward fix for this. Is there an alternative ECU from Yamaha that will correct the problem or is there an after market power commander type unit i can fit to sort it.

Cheers all

Dan

It could be the side stand switch sticking/shorting

Or it could be a faulty ECU as Kev point out in this thread with a link to ECU problem.

Both are mentioned in this thread

Good luck getting it sorted.

Exclamation Fuelling

I have the same kind of issues with my 2005 XT 660R. It has a set of Arrow end cans and occasionally cuts out on the approach to junctions and is lumpy at the best of times until you stretch her legs. This is cause for concern as a new biker.
Does anyone have a secondhand power commander for sale and would this fitment affect my insurance premium.

Dont have a power commander for sale. I advised my insurer when I fitted some cans and PCIII (like you) and it did not affect my premium. I would tell them just so they cannot scrap your insurance if you did have a claim.

There are ways to reduce the jerky ride like the KEV MOD, but none that I know of that will eliminate the cutting out. Having said that I think they replaced the TPS on earlier bikes due to this. My TPS was not one of them however she stalls every once in a while, mainly when pulling over after a blat on the motorway/long fast stretch of road.

Could it help if you increased the idle revs a bit?
