Sidi Crossfire ??

My TRG's have decided to leave their will to continue on, somewhere in Portugal.....

In a couple of parts, the stitching has gone, so it's time to considr a replacement.....

I've been thinking of the Sidi Crossfires, ab it on the old expensive side, but I do believe you gets what you pays for....

Has anyone used, got, had these boots? How would you rate them?

I've had the Sidi Tare-Flex(?? I think) for 5/6 years.

Pretty much indistructible, had my ankle stuck inbetween a rut and the tens swingarm never felt a thing. Downside is heavy and not much 'feel' to them, always worn MX boots so not a problem for me. On the road, I have to take foot off the peg to change down on the ten, just can't find optimal position for the gear lever, for me anyway so try on the bike if you can.

Comfy all day long on the bike and OK for short walks as they have a 'pivot' at the ankle so you can move your foot easy. Never let in water on the bike and ok for a shallow plodge but let in water if you go wading in depth.

hi, the crossfires are a newer version of the sidi 'flexforce',[which i use] and if the newer ones are as good as the old ones definately a good quality buy!. iirc nick was using a pair of crossfires on our trip

im on my second pair i normally kill a pair of boots in 18 months,[these about 3 years] gearn alpinstrs they just get worn out,as the flexforce are no longer made i picked up a 2nd hand pair on ebay as new! result

yes they can be stiff in use, slow and ponderous to put on but the level of protection is pretty high, most exterior panels adjustable/replaceable and for a offroad boot fairly waterproof, certainly a lot better than alpinest.check with nick

bye

I thought that, and hoped that you would see this and say. I kinda like the 'pivot' bit, and the spares bit.

I had a look at some Tech3's in HG. To be honest I didn't like them at all,

I have yes, and to be honest, I'm not sure they are all that much better (if at all) than the TCX Infinity boots that I have for road riding.

Darren,

Yes, I was using Sidi Crossfires.

I bought then 2nd hand, the seller said he had used them for about 1yr, they looked not much used when I got them.

I've used them for just over a year and like them alot. They are a little heavy compared to some boots like the AS Tech10, but then the AS boots look like they were thrown together in a Shanghai sweatshop.

They are comfy*, easy to walk in, the buckles are easy to adjust and stay adjusted and most of the panels can be replaced (screwed on) you need to keep and eye on the screws or Loctite them. The soles have a reasonable grip too compared to the slick MX boots.

Nick.

* The only prob I've had is after about 7-8 days constant use on the Portugal trip they started to rub my little toes.

tried these on.....in fact i bought them......

But have had to give them back to the shop.........ahh...... i dont think i could live in these all day and feel comfortable enough.

I'd certainly have safe feet for a 10 lap MX race(then take them off and have a cup of tea ).... but just dont think i'd be able to do a full day in the saddle with them. just my opinion and actually pi$$ed off as the quality looks great.

What you get in the end GULGO ?

I Have them. they fit like a glove. Very comfy even when worn all day every day for a week. Protection is also very good. Mine are about 2 maybe 3 years old now and still as good as new. I wear water proof socks with them and would not say they were waterproof.

I will be buying another pair if they every were out!!
