XTX - XTR Tank Drilling Mod Silly Question

I'm looking at doing the tank drilling mod on my XTR to (slightly) improve the endurance for an Oz outback trip.

I do understand that any such drilling should be done with a hand drill and looking at Kev's picture I'd say that the hole size looks about 3 or 4 mm.

Now for the silly bit - how do I stop any steel swarf from dropping into the tank.

Of course I can bunge the filler hole and catch anything from the drilling side but what about the possiblity of something from the inside of the tank ?
