Tech Help Required - Power on the Road

I was in halford's today and saw something called a 'Power Ring Power Source', a kind of inverter to convert 12v to 240(?). It looks lke it plugs into a 12v socket and has a three-pin house type socket to plug things into. rated at 12v/150w (they had more powerful models) piced at 34.99. They say it can power a laptop/digi cam etc.

My question is relating to this and its suitability for my planned long trip (6 weeks or so on the tenere round europe). I want to take a netbook and a digi movie cam (Go Pro or similar). Will this device be suitable for using/charging these? I'd easily find room in a pannier or top box to keep it, connecting to the 12v socket as required. I'd look to connect it to the digi cam whilst on the move but for the netbook it would be used whilst staionary (will it drain the bike battery?). Any observations/advice/suggestions appreciated.
