in my quest towards maximum laziness, I've ordered a Tutoro chain oiler last friday.
http://www.tutorochainoiler.com/ Not only it'll save my in chain maintenance but it's easy to install (why be lazy once when you can be twice) I had a Loobman on my GSE500, which was good although a bit messy depending on weather condition/temperature The Tutoro is also cheap (24pounds with dual feed nozzle) ![]() I'll fit it to the Tenere and if I'm happy enough I'll buy another one for the VFR.... the flow is adjustable by turning the knob http://www.tutorochainoiler.com/aboututoro.html The picture above is the one with the single feed delivery that's the dual feed: ![]() Oh and they sell separately a nice clip to hold it instead of the cable ties provided... ![]() I think it should have been part of the base kit , although I didn't use the one I bought ![]() ![]() I kbnow it's "only" 5h worth of lubing... but if you're going to ride all day: - either you're going to be home at the end of the day and you can top it up - you're on a bike trip and you will carry a can of chain lube (as you have to lube your chain every 500km), so you can carry a (very) small bottle of oil instead ![]() also, depending on the material used for the cap of the reservoir, there may be a possibility of having a remote oil tank, linked to this reservoir by a tube (and drilling a hole in the reservoir cap), or a (quite) large rubber hose would provide an adequate extension too ![]() at the end of the day, it's only 20ish euros, the price of 2 can of chain lube... I've fitted the kit today (yep delivery was fast: posted friday, delivered monday in ireland) The "tank" is tiny, the inside diameter would barely take my little finger. It's about the size of a lighter. it can hold 8ml of oil. As you can see in the 1st post anyway, it's slightly smaller than a 10ml syringe. Fitting is pretty straightforward, the longest part is "priming" the system aka: opening the valve fully and waiting for the delivery tube to be filled which can be long depending on oil viscosity and temperature.... At first I intended to use the 2 stroke oil I had, but then i remembered I had some scottoiler oil ![]() it takes 5 turns to open the valve fully, so there's a good margin for proper tuning/setup. Pictures of my setup (on a dirty bike), clic for bigger view: Full setup: tank on top, twin feeder inside the swingarm ![]() Close up on the feeder: ![]() the tank and the delivery tube: 3 cable ties on the chain cover, plus 2 cable tie holders on the swingarm to keep the cable tie in place as the swingarm narrows towards the end. ![]() Close up on the tank and it's 2 rubber blocks (provided), the delivery tube goes inside the rear peg mount point. ![]() Questions ?
