ignijet 2007 ECU

All we need now is to find a way to shift the dead end effect of the rev limiter to a higher range, any news on that problem Kev.

Fran, Freez was going to try a Raptor ignition module on the XT with that we be able to move the RPM. Steve_athens has a racing ECU on his bike with the standard ECU removed & his rev limiter is at 8500RPM.

I have not pushed for this mod as we have not built a XT motor that I know of that will make it's peak HP after 7200rpm. You also create a whole lot of other problems when you get the XT motor to produce it's peak HP beyond 7200 rpm with a high lift camshaft, I think I experienced it with my stage 1 Hot Cam on the dyno. The valves may start to float at those high RPM's with the standard springs with a high lift cam, you will need to remove the cylinder head & fit up rated valve springs & retainers to prevent this.

Freez is the best person to ask about this mod, as he has done it many times.

Hi Kev.

A few questions. Where did they get this special racing ECU from? Can it be purchased via your local Yamaha dealer?

Also, I am very interested to find out why your valves are floating?

Have been running the stg 1, 2 and 3 cams on the raptors up to 9000 RPM and it works fine. Last time I checked, the Xt and raptor both uses the same part number for the springs and valves.

Freez it only showed up twice on the dyno where the motor lost instant HP around the 7000rpm mark, we put it down to valve float.

Steve is the best person to talk to about his ignijet 2007 ECU.

The things that happen with this ecu are the following,its completely adjustable ecu that with the proper cable can fit on any bike this is good and bad because the stock values for the xt660 are unknown and you have to set every sensor-advance-injection iap-fuel,the ecu tends to run rich and it needs lot of air(stage 2 without filter inside and drilled holes is not enough),i have some start up problems especially when cold and i dont know how to set it correctly and i have tried lots of setups(something with the sensors is here).As for the camshaft i have tried with a hotcam of unknown specs because it was custom made(i have fotos of it if you can understand who it is) the bike was pulling hard until 7800rpm but the valves were doing like crazy and the bike was shaking so i removed the camshaft and i made an xt660 cam with a wilder profile the bike was dropping at 7100 rpm but valves were not having noticable problems.I have made a custom map and the bike runs smooth but there is lot of space for improvement
