I have found my hands are sensitive to the XT's vibration through my Pro-taper bars & have come up with a simple solution to reduce the vibration with this mod.

Not my invention, just applied it to the XT in a simple way, this technology is used in Helicopter engines to reduce vibrations. By adding an extra weight attached to the existing bar weight. The brass weight does not touch the side walls of the bars, they are 1mm smaller in diameter & takes the high frequency vibrations out of the bars.

I used longer bolts & threaded the brass weights, the longer bolts hold the extra weights in place & are locked in place by a 6mm nut, away from the XT bar weight (which is the trick) & in the center of the handle bars. I am going to make a few to test in the standard XT bars with longer weights, I will let you know how it works out.

















This is what I have ended up after a month of playing with different designs, I have hardly any vibration from 4000rpm upwards. The trick is the stainless steel end weight & the brass inner weight must not touch the bars.











If you are using standard bars you can fit longer weights for a better result.

I have the Pro-Taper CR high bar, (need to double check that) with Barkbusters fitted, would that work?

also kev if you 'injected' large amounts of silicone (like bathroom caulking) into the bars that works great, i used to build around 100 custom bikes a year (v twins, loads of vibration) in my old shop in las vegas and that helps tremendously, maybe the two combined????????????
