Big BIG BEEEG Chain problems!!!!

Hi Guys, I own a XT 660 R 06', and last year the chain came off @ 170km in a turn, nothing happened to me. The link after the master link broke for no reason! This week i was cruising with my dad @ 140km, and guess what!?!?!?!

the freaken chain got of, the master link broke! [/SIZE]

now i've spoken to a bunch of cracker ass sales men, and they say it's because of the chain lubrication i'm using! Castrol Wax! okay, now that stupid reason is cleared out of the air, this weeks small accident, i thought( now that's seriaaas stuff ) the circlip got out! that's all it can be!

Its a EK 520 SR 05. now they say EK chains is a ****ty chain! true!? well they said i should consider a D.I.D chain! i had a D.I.D chain and the link broke before the master link! Now what now! should consider riding horses!? there is a lot of opinions!

but what should i take up seriously and what not! coz this week i've heard a lot of opinions! like for instance the lubrication opinion!

Is your chain over tighten, you need a fair amount of slack on the chain because of the amount of suspension movement, I broke a link on my chain when I had a new DRZ400 I had the chain to tight.

Sounds like too tight a chain, you need to make sure youve always got 20-30mm slack in your chain so when your riding the bike the chain doesnt over tighten when your suspension moves up and down.

Also both times you where travelling at a high speed meaning your chain is hot and means any slight movement like bumps in the road effect the suspension and there for the chain more.

Seems to me you have fitted the wrong chain to your bike, that's why it is breaking. You need a min of 8400lbs tensile strength on a XT.

EK 520 SRO5,
features: 8000 lb tensile strength, Max 400 cc street, 250 cc dirt.

I would never use a master link with a clip on any of my bikes, I only used a rivit type master link.
