Help! - Lambda sensor/exhaust technical question

Just fitted a MM 2 in 1 exhaust to my girlfriend's 07 xtr. Looks great and certainly is a practical improvement over the stock ones.

I have got one issue I'm struggling with at the moment. I bought the exhaust on ebay from someone selling their XT but their bike must have been a couple of years older as the older MM pipes don't have a place for the Lambda sensor which the stock ones on '07 bikes do.

My question, and one that my local Yamaha dealer and Paul from MM were unable to answer is what do i do with the Lambda sensor? Will the bike run with it like this or do i need to do something?

Your expertise and thoughts would be much appreciated...

Buy Kev's Fuel Mod for the 07> models. This includes the O2 sensor eliminator, and your bike will run better as well.

You have 2 choices.

You can weld a O2 sensor bung into the header & fit back the O2 sensor.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OBX-BOSS-PLUG-NUT-OXYGEN-O2-SENSOR-BUNG-SS304-STAINLESS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em 14QQhashZitem5ad33ea1cdQQitemZ390091153869QQptZMot orsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Unfortunetly my O2 eliminators are out of stock & won't be making any more O2 Eliminators at the moment & recommend you use this one, remove the O2 sensor & plug this in. We are using this O2 eliminator on all the XT's with a O2 sensor including the XTZ. Then fit a fuel mod to increase the fuel mixture to get a better A/F ratio with all your mods.

Thanks for the quick reply guys, just thought i should follow up as I'm still not the most knowledgeable mechanic (am working on it though!!), and am discovering more as i work on and prep the bike, so forgive me if these questions are (really) stupid!

Which of those 2 options do you recommend? And could you explain exactly what i need to do with it? And a word on the required fuel mod would be very much appreciated!

I'm really sorry, but am new at this and am learning as I go!

thanks again!!

Bobduro,

I have a genuine 02 eliminator that i bought from Dyno-jet UK. Used one on my XT X 2007 model, seemed to work OK.

You can have it at the bargain of 15 incl postage.

Drop me a PM if you are interested matey

Cheers
