bike boots/Infinity TCX boots

Its time to change the boots as ive now worn holes in my old sidi vertibras , they are like slippers but for some reason after just over a year just go and start to fall to pieces.

So what im after is a comfy set of boots as i where them when im at uni
Must be fully waterproof as i ride all year round.
I would like to have some form of toe slider or large rubber protection on the toe to stop scuffs etc
Must be shin high/proper boots not those small shoes sizes.
A good thick sole as the new sporty boots now come with paper thin soles which wear to nothing within a couple of months use.
Price. Max would be the TCX infinitys at 170
Thats really it.

So what would you recommend.??????

ive seen the Infinity tcx boots and read a good few reviews but still havent had the chance to go and try a set on, plus there no toe slider which at the rate im wearing my sliders out is not a plus point. (that who i made the holes in my old boots.)

I can certainly recommend the TCX Infinity boots

Had mine for about a year now and done about 19k miles in them in all weather. VERY comfortable, utterly waterproof and with some thermal socks plenty adaquate for my motorway commute in winter. BIKE/RIDE (can't remember which) tested them by leaving them in ankle deep water overnight and nothing came through at all.

Shin protection is excellent and hardwearing.

As you can see I have a few scuffs in mine but that's only cosmetic. Soles seem to be lasting me fairly well, especially as I've caught my foot on the road a couple on times while sticking my foot out in corners.

The leather is fairly thick so you're not going to be wearing thought them that quickly if you are hard on them but YMMV of course.

When mine finally wear out I'll be buying another pair for sure (I should get another 1-2 years out of them easily).

My only complaint is i'd have liked the gear change toe guards to have extented further forward as they don't always protect the boot on the Tenere (you can see the scuff marks)

Cheers mate it seems the TCX infinity are the only boots out there really, just a pitty they dont have any toe sliders. As this is what ive done to my boots after about 1/2 a summers riding and 2 pairs of toe sliders (also ive hardly any rubber left on the under side of my pegs.)

and yes that is a bit of duct tape trying to cover a hole in the leather i made one day!!!!!

Anyone else got any ideas!!

I have had my TCX for 2 years and can just agree with deiaccord. Excellent weather protection, never too warm and never too cold. Comfortable even for long walks and good quality. No broken seems or anything like that. Only downside is that they are too soft for offroading and as mentioned they lack toe sliders. Have taught me to drive correctly leaning the upper body instead of tilting the bike though. =)

I'm guessing you did'nt do that by getting your feet down on a Tenere with all the ground clearance you get?

I think requiring toe sliders restricts your all weather choices quite a bit. I've certainly heard the sidi's are comfy but not as waterproof or durable (I know other people who have worn them out a bit easily) and they are nothing like as warm/Insulated as the TCX Infinitys.

I have the TCX too, but if I was to buy again then I'd go back the the Hein Gericke boots, they are identicle to the TCX, but a few quid cheaper and the fastners aren't as stiff, had my last pair (still have them) for 5 years and despite the stitching going they still don't let in a drop.

Not had any problems with the fastners being stiff on mine (although maybe almost daily use helps?)

I've noticed the HG ones, buth the price difference is not that much and would rather support TCX as they origionally developed them. Not that i'll be in the market for new all-round boots for a while...
