blistered paint/lacquer
Well I am ALMOST a 660X owner. Went for a testdrive and Put my deposit down over the weekend.
I was interested in the black model, it had 10,000miles on it. But when it arrived at the shop I saw it had quite some damage to the engine casing paint/lacquer, it looked ugly. Initially i thought it had just been abused. it was rather bad. Luckily the shop had another, but this time in white, only 1000 miles with no damage. Figured I can live with white, if not I can change the plasic at some point. Now recently I have read somewhere that blistered paint on the engine is a common fault with these bikes. Is this true? Anyone else lost most of the paint on the casing? I'm hoping to do alot of miles abroad on it next year (It'll get some full day riding) will it be ok, or will it get hot and shed it's paint? Anyone? cheers. |

Well, thanks for the Quick replies folks.
I'll have a search around the site like you mentioned. If it's something I can remidy with a paint job in a couple of years then no worries. Cheers for the warm welcome too! I'll let you know when I'm riding me XT, will be a nice change. Spain next year hopefully. My only other reservation is the pretty hard seat! I'm looking to change/modify it. I'll let you know how I get on. |
