XTX fitted with XTR suspension links
I have just fitted to my 09 XTX, XTR suspension links, they are 5 mm longer than XTX. I was under the impression that the side stand had to be shortened, but it seems to lean at the same angle as previous, from what measurement I took before installing the links it appears the bike is possibly three quarters of an inch lower at seat height. In view of all this do I need to lift the forks in their clamps, if so by how much, thanks in anticipation of answers.

You can if you want but i think its more of a personnel thing with handling, as youve lowered the rear the correct thing would be to lower the front so the balance on the tyres is the same but on these types of bikes more wieght on the rear can some times make the front go too light so then youd drop the forks.

I tried the bike last night for about 25 miles there seemed to be no discernable difference, the xtx links are 85mm between centres and the xtr links are 90mm, the 5mm difference has dropped the seat about 3/4 quarters of an inch, enough to get the balls of my feet on the floor. I have not lifted the forks through their clamps.
