2009 XTz 660 tenere lowering

Hello all,
I'm looking to make some lowering bones for my new bike , 2009 XTZ660 Tenere, as I'm a little short to get my feet planted firmly on the ground at 5ft 10", so I was wondering if anyone out here has any links or details of what types of lowering kits are out there, or indeed any hole centre distance that will lower the bike. I'm an engineer with access to metalworking facilities, so making a pair would be no probs.
Question, do you need wider or narrower hole centres to lower the suspension on one of these bikes, I've only had it a day and I havent had a proper look yet!!
Regards
Wimpster

You need wider center holes, use the forum search option amd look for lowering, there are several choices

I have these and I am 5' 10" too. They only lower the bike by about 12mm but it does make a big difference. I also lowered the forks into the tripple clamps by about 14mm (which is about 12mm vertically and keeps the steering geometry about the same). Also the stand will need shortening by about 20mm.
The extra stand reduction allows for:
a) to compensate for the bike lowering,
b) to lower the bike further over for easier getting on and off,
c) to stop the bike leaning over to the right when the stand is down and the bike is loaded with rider (pillion ?) and luggage... and
d) to compensate for the suspension extra sag when the mileage goes up.

Have a look at http://www.xt660.com/showthread.php?t=7371 for a better discussion on the problem.

Ray

I will second tha I am a wee bit shorter than Ray. but 28 inch leg I copied Ray's mod and it allows me to have both feet on the ground at the same time. Ok Toes rather than feet but I dont need to slide across the seat.

Thanks Ray.

But if you have the facilities I think Ray's design for Double ended bones would be great. I have thought of a design for a side stand to go with it....
