Akrapovic exhaust hitting chain on heavy brakeing
Hi All
This is my first post, i purchased a second hand XT660 2006 with 14,000kms around 3 months ago and have had a bit of an issue with the akrapovic exhaust system that was already fitted. Francesco from this site has told me to undo all the bolts and adjust pipes to sit closely and neatly to the frame then re-tighten which i will give a go tonight (thanks Francesco), however where the pipes connect, the previous owner has put on hose clamps.. and also the spring clips that hold it together, i have been told the hose clamps should not be on there at all, is this correct?? Thanks for any advice Cheers to All! |

If you are connecting the aftermarker link pipes to the ones from the bike, you should use exhaust clamps 99p each from halfords, hope this helps.

hi stew, thanks for the reply. i took the clamps off as there was slight cracks in the cans. there was also clamps where the pipes connect under the bike which i removed, i'm not sure if it is the original link pipes (by link pipes i was thinking the pipes that go from the can to under the bike) the steel seems the same color as the akrapovic can inlet...
i hope i have done the right thing! :S have riden it a few times since and all seems ok |

ok just looked at the schematic drawing for them, there are meant to be clamps, not near the cans though, under the bike.. back to the garage to refit!
