New Seat

As it was shaved off by 30mm since new, I was pretty much sitting on the frame after 13,000km. So I found a shop nearby, went there and explained to them what I needed, and waited right there for two hours while tested the new seat at each evolutionary stage, voila:

Looks good Josephau!

I was thinking about seat mods after reading some other comments on here (might have been yours originally?) - I think one solution might be to put extra foam in the centre part of the seat (directly under your bum), but leaving the sides scaloped so your thighs don't catch the edge of the raised seat and you end up looking like John Wayne when you try and get your feet down?

I have a 'high' seat on my Ducati monster that is shaped like this, and it gives more support (and height) under your bum, but allows you to still get your feet down comfortably - really makes a difference I've found.

I'll get some pictures of mine up JMo, I had denser foam fitted, and a bit higher with a gel pad on top, plus the riders part scalloped further back so I could sit more where I wanted to be. Very much an improvement.

I don't think the foam is any denser than original, but they reshaped the seat entirely, I asked them to. Basically, the 'step' is eliminated from the original, from then on, I told them to make it as flat as possible from the end to the front. But due to my height requirement, it has to slope upward from rider to passenger area, but at least it's more or less straight. So the guy cut out a whole new shape of foam, glue it on whatever is left, touch it up to make it as straight as possible, and fabric over (even with white threads but you can't see in the pic). I think the benefit of staying and waiting there while he made it is that I could test it at each stage of the development so he can modify it until I feel good. A long time ago, I had a seat shipped to a reputable shop in the US to be remoded. The quality is good, but the fit is horrible: I kept sliding to the tank at braking to the point I was seriously considering wearing 'extra' protective gear

I still think the passenger area has too much foam - I told the guy he could even completely eliminate the foam in passenger area - otherwise it would have been even straighter and flatter. I could slide back easily, but my rear would be on a slight downward slope. It's good to be able to move around, but not able to stay at anywhere for long. The material of the gray area is apparently also used by BMW (ouch, did you see the video link in another thread ), and the red area is actually carbon-look on red, i.e. it has this flicks of reflections if look closely. Pretty cool. The whole thing including labor costs me EUR 150 and two hours of wait.
