Tyre balancing

No i dont mean trying to walk down the road with one on your head!!!

Is it critical to balance rear tyres.
I am sure my last rear was not balanced and if i go to the nearest and easiest place to get it done it won't be again.

Does the rear matter?????

Why do my tires need to be balanced?
Properly balanced tires are important for driving comfort and long tire life. Unbalanced tires can cause vibration, resulting in driver fatigue, premature tire wear and unnecessary wear to your vehicle's suspension. Tires should be balanced when they are mounted on wheels for the first time or when they are remounted after repair. Tires should be rebalanced at the first sign of vibration or "shimmy." Vibration may also be due to misalignment or mechanical problems.

There is a guy on Fleabagbay selling a balancing spindle for around 45, weights cost 2 a strip and the proccess is very straigh forward. I go through tyres on my TTR as if I had shares in Michelin, so rather than pay 10 - 20 every time to get new ones fitted I purchased a bead breaker (I run a slightly oversized tyre so I do need help to bread the bead) and a balancing spindle.

Not worth the investment for everyone - but worth a thought ?

I have had some balanced and some not I even did not know that the VFR rear had not been balanced as the tyre guy could not balance a single sided wheel. Tyres are a lot better now so most of the time you get away with it. You will soon find out if they need it ' your fillings will fall out......'
