xtz lights Dim Headlamp

Just ridden the several miles home through dark country lanes and found the main headlamp beam on my ten a bit lacking in power. Getting on a bit and doing a lot of night time riding would like to illuminate the warts on the rabbits noses. (if you know what I mean)

Does anyone know of a simple mod (Brighter bulb) that would be easy to fit and give brighter illumination.

I don't want to go to the expense of additional lights. The problem seems to be that when on main beam the road in front of the bike i.e. first 10ft or so is not properly illuminated and appears dull.

It would be handy to have both bulbs illuminated and have the benefit of all that light on the road.

Has anyone any suggestions

I know what you mean but compared to my ttr the tens lights are amazing, I am currently looking into fitting an extra light mounted near the towing eye so it points the beam in the direction of the front wheel. Hope you find a fix as I too want to upgrade mine. Halfords do a good range of upgrade bulbs but i am always a bit sceptical.

Yep I know what you mean about the lights, though they are a fair bit better than a lot of bikes I have had, Ive been riding home the last few nights in the dark, a good 50 miles of unlite motorway and country roads, I think a weekend trip to Halfords could be in order, I will post if I find anything any good

Here's a 'crazy' idea... how about replacing the front indicators with a pair of Touratch projector driving lamps (mmmmmm... nice) mounted there, and wire the side lights as front indicators using orange bulbs?

Read your post and thought you may be interested in having a look at this HID Lighting link http://www.bikegear.co.za/202f7e2b-d445-4981-9db0-437fc7020cb6-9.html
If you cannot get the link to work go to www.bikegear.com and look at the HID Lighting. This is a South African website.
Hope you find what you are looking for.
Cheers Geoff

Great ideas,

Thank you to everyone who took the time to reply to my post. I like the one about the HID bulbs but have no technical knowledege. I checked out the website but couldn't find any prices.

I've been away on the bike camping this weekend and used the new Yamaha panniers. Unfortunately the key broke in the lock and rendered them useless. Fortunately, the panniers weren't on the bike and I was able to send them home in a friends car.

Consequently my headlamp mods have taken a back seat. I will write more on the panniers in the luggage section over the next day or so.

Many thanks xt660zrider
