LED Parking Lights
Getting tired of replacing my parking lights and number plate light. The wedge style globe is just too fragile for a big single.
Purchased a few T10 7020 SMD Leds from eBay and hoping for a bit more longevity. The LEDs are supposedly vibration proof with a service life of around 30,000 hours...... In my opinion they still look pretty fragile. The globes I chose are supposedly 500 lumens...they do appear to be brighter. They work out around the same price as a standard wedge globe. If they last more than 12 months I will be happy. Time will tell I am not particularly interested in their parking function....Just want to be more visible to oncoming traffic. Below are some before and after pics. BEFORE: AFTER:

Fingers crossed they will last a bit longer for you. The cheap ones don't tend to last long. I changed my parkers to LED about 12 months ago & touch wood are still fine. Got them from Supercheap Autos, and at least they are a bit less draining on the side light circuit if your running a few accessories from there too.

Seahorse, can you post a link to where you bought those please? I hate that faint mellow glow of the standard bulbs.

LEDs are definitely the way to go. Both fronts and the reg plate lamps went within the first two months of owning my Ten. Fitted LEDs at the end of 2008 and the same ones are still in there now getting on for eight years later!

"T10 7020" or "Wedge LED" That way you should get some UK sellers in your results...as well as several hundred Chinese sellers..!!! The 7020 LED chip is relatively new. Note: You will pay more for "Canbus" variants of these wedge lights....they are not necessary on the XT660 bikes...

As I am located in Australia, eBay gave me quite a few results mainly from Australian and Chinese sellers., I normally buy from Australian sellers, even though they are slightly more expensive, postage is always far quicker. Here is a link to one of the Chinese sellers. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Car-10-LE...gAAOSweW5VZoJR They do post to the UK The search I used was T10 (this is the type of lamp...also known as a wedge type) The 7020 stands for the type of LED chip used. A single 7020 chip will produce 45-50 Lumens. The ones I bought had 10 x 7020 chips which should give an output around 450 - 500 lumens. Hope this helps...

I put two of 5050 T10 with 5 leds
But I do not like the blueish color...ordered pure white ones T10 9 LED 5050 SMD. I have them on my car(differect socket tho) and they are pure white, whiter than my 5000k xenons. |
