Help for trip to Scotland

Spending roughly 6-7 days touring Scotland on the 25th May and looking for advice on places to visit.I will be on a ktm adv and mate on a bmw gs, Will be camping as much as possible so looking for cheap campsites and the best routes to take, we dont have a set plan or route so will be just winging it on a daily basis on advice from people we meet.
We will be travelling up from Swansea on the Friday and possibly staying somewhere in the lakes then heading towards the west coast and making our way around
Cheers

Lakes.... right we know a great site to camp. I'll pm you the details.

Scotland is a big place, north and west is best. Southwest is an real gem, but then you realy have to get north of the m8 belt. You pretty much can't go wrong really. Skye is worth the long ride, a long day from the Lakes in riding terms.

My personal favourites : glen coe, glen shiel, rannoch moor. But there is more to see than any one trip can sustain.

If you want to have a bit ride in the lakes, let me know, not your planned destination but while you are there......

The west coast is great as is Dumfries, but why not break the mold and consider the Cairngorms and the Glens too, hugely underestimated by folks going to Scotland who often make the default choice and "go west". A lot less busy, a lot less midges and it's a lot less wet in the summer.

Only done it in the camper van but some beautiful scenery. And while you're there, why not a visit to the Nevis Range at Fort Bill where you can hire some mountain bikes?

With 6-7 days you could come up the centre of the highlands (Glen shee), see the Speyside area, the Cairngorms, head North into the High Highlands then head West and come down the coast (take the small coast roads) to Ullapool and then follow the coast South - Skye, Mull too etc etc and further South as suggested.

I set off at 06.45 this morning following the Spey West - Stunning in the morning Sun - wildlife - and lovely roads! Back to feed the kids their breakfasts.

If /when you hit Glen Coe check out the Clachaig Inn just thru the village - The Red Squirrel campsite is just down the road and is within staggering distance.
