Symtec heated grips
Hi folks,
Picked up my new steed on Friday. Not done many miles yet as it has been very cold with snow and loads more salt spread all over the roads. Anyway, thought I would start adding some bits to the bike and have ordered a set of symtec heated grip things from www.windingroads.co.uk . I'm wondering if anyone can provide any tips for installation? What I really wonder is how difficult it is to get the original grips off and should I be able to remove them and get them back on without damaging them or should I order new grips? I've heard that hairspray is a good way to get them back on over the elements, anyone agree or have other ideas? Cheers, Stoo |

Dont know about the z but on the r just heat the grips with a hairdryer and they should come off quite easy ,i wired mine to the lights so i cant forget to turn them off ,hairspray works a treat to get the grips back over the heating element and hold the grips in place

These ones ?
http://www.windingroads.co.uk/shop/p...ated_grip_kit/ I personally installed the oxford's Hotgrips on both a GSE500 and my VFR750m and I've been very happy with them. I would be cautious with just fitting a heating resistance under the original grips. 1- would the grip fit back with the added thickness ? 2- would the original grips survive the heat ? (my oxford hotgrip can be really hot on max setting) :2cts: |

I have both sets ,oxford on the xt and symtec on the ccm and have to say the symtec are better as they get warmer due to only having to get the heat through a thinner grip so less bulky and they are paper thin so you will have no problem replacing your original grips

aye i would agree with jasext . tryed all sorts of grips over the years and the symtec are as good as any other . i wrapped a bit of insulating tape around the symtec heat pads befor slipping back on the grips found it a bit easier that way

Cheers guys, sounds like this should be within my abilities. I had a look at the Oxford ones but like the idea of keeping the original and less chunky grips.
