Clutch/Accelerator Cable

Ev'nin folks.

Background: my bike's on 32000kms, full Yam service history & the like. I'm planning another biggish trip with the Mrs this summer.

Question: Clutch & accelerator cables, do these need changing, how often, etc?

Comments welcome

Thanks!!

Like all metal/metal contact - it depends on how well/often you lubricate it (oo-er missus). Keep it well lubricated and you only need to replace when the adjustment at both ends has been taken up fully.

Hmm, well I've not applied any grease/WD since I bought her. Obviously I can't say the same for the mechanics that have worked on my bike. Are there any tell tale signs of wear?

Yeah - how much stretch is there?

Is the adjustment at each end more than half taken up - if so it might be worthwhile getting new ones and taping them to the old ones in case of failure then all you need to do is disconnect the stretched/broken one and connect the new one - don't forget to tape each end of the new ones so that no dirt/water ingress occurs.
