handle bars.

looking to start moding my 07 660R, fancy replacing the bars for a set of Magura enduro style bars, set at either 10mm or 20mm higher.

Has any one replaced the bars for the Magura,s and if so any problems, less fib's, also looking to fit hand guards at the same time and a larger touring screen.

Any and all advice welcome.

A few people have added either different bars or raisers to the standard bars and fine no problems where as others find the clutch cable, brake etc etc get tight when on full lock.

At the moment had standard bars and the clutch cable became very tight around the oil filler cap when on full left lock and if i rose the bars any further they would have to come closer to the rider to give a bit of slack back.

As for the hand guards they should be easy enough to fit, again just watch the routing of cables/tubes and the high screen is all good but remember to retighten all nuts and bolts after a wee ride incase any have loosen off.

I was never happy with the shape of the original handlebars on my R. Didn't seem to fit straight through the hands, rather at an angle. Then got Magura X-Line bars from Ebay for 25, worth trying. Also ordered 10mm higher risers from OTR. Later found out my local bike shop had them in stock all along. All made by Magura( as apparently most of the other fat bars are) just under another brand.
No problems fitting the bars. But two holes needed drilling for the switch gear. At 10mm no issues with cables, just. As for guards the standard fitting kits don't work anymore. Most manufacturers sell special ones for taper bars.
The result was quiet remarkable! Money well spend. Perfect fit for my 181cm, solid feel and looks great. So that is why BMW, KTM and Ducati fit them as standard. Come on Yamaha, if you can't fit them from new at least copy them as well as you can. They are better!

Rob

P.S.
Does anybody know how much a replacement bar is from Yamaha?
