Post Speedo reads KMPH not MPH...RTFM!

Hello.
Just got back home from collecting my Tenere.
I've had a read of the owners manual to go about changing the speedometer to read in MPH, so no RTFMs please.

It say's to turn the ignition to 'ON', then press the 'SELECT' but for two seconds. But, after doing this, not change is visible and the clock still reads in KMs.
Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Timpo.

ok before you do that make sure the speedo is displaying the ODO reading and not the TRIP, that normally does it on the XTX/XTR, unless they've used a different software on the diag.

ODO reading and trip are displayed on the same screen.

I've just had my Sarah RTFM to me and I have done exactly as described with no joy???

Do you have any way of scanning the User Manual that was given to you with the bike for me to have a look at? You have to appreicate I have yet to have my hands on one of these bikes and I hate to think that they sold you an European import bike, because all UK bikes should display both KHM and Miles. Have a word with your dealer.

We've had this problem before with other users that bought a bike from Holland or France and found that they can only use the KHM on their diag.

Sorry, I don't have a scanner.

I have noticed that after the key is put into 'ON' position and the system check goes through the motions, there is 'miles' displayed above the 'kms' on the LCD display.

I'll give my dealer a call in the morning and let you know how I get on....

Hi Timpo

Had exactly the same problem with my XTZ when I picked it up, Yamaha didn't know how to get around it, my dealer fixed it by turning the key to the off position, holding down both buttons whilst turning the ignition back on, that enabled him to choose the MPH setting, so good luck with that, hope your enjoying your XTZ as much as I am mine.

you need to press and hold select and reset then turn the ignition on this will let you set time and also mph or kph

MPH to KPH: A possible answer???

Ive had the same problem here, doing it by the book isnt the answer, apparently, so, with a phone call to a very handy Yamaha dealer, they say
Start with pressing the SELECT button before you turn on the ignition, turning the key with Select already down, leaving in down for a couple of seconds, then it should change.

There is a difference in how this is done depending on the year i have a 09 with and 08 manual and the instructions dont work for the 09 models. i vaguely remember the guy holding select with the key off.

Useful sticky ---

I'm halfway across europe with clock on the Ten showing two hours slow from last winter settings and speedo reading MPH.

After reading this thread I should be able to sort things out before hitting the road again - thank you
