14 cog front sprocket
Hi!
Have searched for a 14 cog front sprocket without any results. Have asked the biggest Yamaha dealers to small motorcycle shops and none have what I asked for to the XT I know OTR have those but I dont order just a sprocket from them. Has the wrf 450 for example the same splines? Or another Yamaha model perhaps? |

Damn! Yes, I should have ask you first before I called every dealer nearby. I will never learn. Luckily I found a sprocket at last, right here in good old Sweden. So now I can calm down and start focus on better things in my life

Standard sprockets are: front 15 teeth / rear 45
By changing the front sprocked to a 14 teeth your bike will gain a quicker acceleration however the moment you mess up with sprockets your speedo will give unaccurate readings, hence you might want to be careful when going past a gatso. To compensate for that you could fit a speedo healer but it has to be calibrated by someone who has a rolling machine and instruments to measure it. Personally I wouldn't bother with it, too much hassle. If you want to learn more of the effects that a change in sprockets will do to your bike try and experiment with the attached spreadsheet. Right, very blond question from me... I'm contempating changing the gearing for better acceleration (I don't need to go any quicker than 100mph anyway, and I want proper 2nd gear power wheelies!).
Which is the best option - Smaller front sprocket, or larger rear? What will this do to my speedo - will it show 30 if I'm doing 25 or the other way around (that's the blond bit!)? Storm
