What is your job?

What is your job and what are your duties? is your job boring or intersting?

Here is what I do I plan stowage for cargo ships, and monitor the loading and discharging operations, it is quite interesting, often dangerous and always different one day from the other. You must be a bit of a dare devil, must not be afraid of heights and you have to be able to trobleshoot difficult stowages and space availabilty always keeping in mind ship stability, crew lives and cargo safety.

Let's hear / see what you do.

Mechanic

I am qualified in two trades, motorcycle (Suzuki & Yamaha) & motor vehicle (Volkswagen Master Tech).

I run a busy motor vehicle workshop for a Volkswagen dealership. I am the workshop foreman, we repair up to 90 motor vehicles a day & generally work a 55 to 60 hour week in 5 days.

I have 2 admin staff, 18 qualified mechanics & 8 apprentices & 1 detailers to look after, as well as the 90 odd customers a day, so I'm quite busy most days.

I have two jobs, my main one is Export Manager for a medical device manufacturer, which is good as I have travelled and seen the world. The fun part is I work part time for a bike riding/racing school called Run x Fun (see www.runxfun.it but it is only in Italian) as an instructor and we have loads of fun!!! Ciao Simon

I am the warden for The Lihou Charitable Trust and look after and run a 30 bed hostel on a small tidal island just off Guernsey. The hostel is the only building on the island and I comute to work by either kayak or tractor. Most of my time is spent working with school children leading activities like climbing, abseiling, archery, coasterering as well as environmental studies etc. Tiring but rewarding.
