new metzeler tourance exp?!
does anyone have opinion on these? More on-road then off road although they could be used in a light off-road trip... i bet they would be also more expensive then regular tourance

those tyres look good as pure on road tyres. Ive got (gonna put it back on) a normal Metz tourance front on at the moment and it handles really well im sure these would be just like riding on road tyres, i wonder would they give you better mileage and how much they cost?

Put EXPs on my BMW R1200GS replacing standard Tourance. Only done 1000 miles on them, and they feel like excellent road tyres. Good grip wet and dry. They feel very stable when braking hard and in bends. Doubt that they would fare well off-road, but I wouldn't be happy taking the GS off-road on anything rough without proper knobbly tyres like Conti TKC 80s.
More expensive than standard Tourance at 200 fitted. (Standard Tourance cost around 160 fitted to a GS.) No idea if they were worth the extra money until they have shown how they wear. People on GS sites say they are wearing well. Going on a tour of Ireland next week, so they will be in use on rough tarmac, probably in very wet conditions. I'll let you know if they misbehave. |

Panniers on. R1200GS. 2000 miles use.
Tourance EXPs worked very well in dry and wet conditions in Eire on bumpy tarmac. Ride home through Wales on smooth (wet) A roads was at a quick pace. EXPs were very precise, handling high speed bends and braking predictably. Very experienced riding buddy on Honda CBF1000 said that "he coudn't have ridden quicker", whilst I felt my tyres had a lot left in them. Tourance EXPs get my vote if quick road riding is your thing. |

Cheers for the report Techno prisioner. Have to get my TKC80s off soon and my road tyres back on again. But the rear will need replacing in about 2-3k miles so not too far away. Might look into getting one of these tyres and see how it lasts.

It's a typical Dutch summer here: pouring with rain. I've been slipping around a lot the last few days, and as there's no offroading to be done around here I've decided to change my Tourance tyres to something more onroad for now. The lack of grip I have in the wet with the Tourances is verging on dangerous.
How are you guys doing with the Tourance EXP tyres? Maxwell, did you ever get them?
