2 kev mods fitted 16/3/08
I purchased the tail riser and the fork spacers and decided to fit them today as it has pi++++ down with rain here all day.
I started with the riser which I found to be an absolute doddle, as per Kev's instructions. I did place my small trolley jack under the skid plate and after removing the nuts from the two bolts I jacked the rear half of the bike slowly pulling on the bolts at the same time, once the jack was in the right position, the bolts came out with no effort at all. This in turn kept the bike in the exact position to slide in again. Very easy to fit and again kev's photo instructions made the job so much easier. I have read that some of you have had to remove the exhaust, I am running with arrows and there is no need to remove it as there is just enough clearance to remove the top bolt. As this didn't take as long I moved onto the fork spacer mod which I found a little awkward doing this on my todd. I removed everything as per the instructions, took the weight off the front wheel but as first thought the bike was unsteady. I used the jack again but found as I was attempting to push the fork top nut down to get the thread going I was pushing down against the spring not getting anywhere. After half hour of struggling and scratching my head, I decided to hold the fork leg pulling up whilst pushing down with the nut, job done in 10 minutes!!. I have only ridden it in my cul de sac as I ain't officially on the road yet and I have to say the riding postion is awesome. I am 5'11" and on tip toes which I would say is just about borderline. I haven't adjusted anything else yet but will leave the suspension as it is unless anyone thinks otherwise and will adjust the chain, not sure wheather the mod should make it tighter or slacker. Overall I am very pleased and would recommend both the mods providing you can afford to be any higher off the ground, the bike looks better up there too. Thanks Kev, keep up the mods!!!!. Dave |
