Snorkel Removal

Thumbs up Addition to snorkel removal

Remove snorkel. Drill 5x 28mm holes extra holes, plug up side holes using vent caps.

The air filter area is = 9768mm sq the snorkel hole area removed = 4000mmsq by adding 5x extra breathing holes you are able to use the full effect of the STD filter size, without the out lay of a DNA stage 2 filter.

Remember to clean out the airbox well.

You will need to adjust the fuel injection richer, using a power commander or the Kev Fueling Mod.


Works well for me.

Why didnt u drill the wholes in the removable panel Kev.
This is irreversible and the panel can easily be renewed ????

The removable panel is part of the filtered area of the airbox & would need the air to be filtered, if using this lid.

The vents I used are not filters, they allow full unfiltered air into the airbox up stream of the air filter. Manly to get the most amount of air to the air filter. If you remove just the air snorkel the filter is still very restricted. The air drawn into the airbox should be equal to the filter area, but it is only half, if the snorkel is removed. So drilling extra holes make sense.

You can buy 30mm rubber grommets from any hardware to block up the holes when you sell your bike.

So even with my stage 1 K&N and stage 2 DNA fitted, these holes would make a difference in air stream i guess ???
Cause i have a few left of my previous side panel conversion and without the little filter they would come in handy then........

The best air intake system is 1st K&N + 2nd DNA stage air filter.

This mod is used only if you don't use the DNA 2nd stage filter.

Remember you will need to adjust the fuel injection richer, using a power commander or the Kev Fueling Mod, to get the best result.

Kev is there any advantage to air intake to drill the holes even when i have stage 1&2 dna filters and would it do any harm if i did?

Works well for me.
Hi can you please help I have made the fueling mod looking to do the 4 holes but reading this I need to do 5, one more extra hole can you please pont out the extra hole? oh and what is this about ? (plug up side holes using vent caps) is this the 4 holes that I have not done yet?

The 5th hole if you want to add it is next to the removed snorkel on the left side of the bike on top of the airbox.

These days I recomend drilling 4 holes on the sides. When you want to sell your bike you can buy rubber plugs from you local hardware to block up the holes.

The free area of the filter would be more relavent than the filter area wouldn't it?

Mine has Staintunes, DNA stage 2 and a PC.

I just removed the snorkel and de-screened the filter.
The motor is smoother at light throttle and is getting better economy.

Anyone else tried de-screening the filter?
