Exhaust readings CCC

Carbon Cans with baffles in & out by kev with dyno results.

1> 53.1 HP baffles Out. DB reading, bike stationary in neutral at 3000RPM, 1.5m distance from exhaust 102DB in open area.

2> 52.5 baffles In. DB reading, bike stationary in neutral at 3000RPM, 1.5m distance from exhaust 94DB


Hi Kev,

I finally used the sound meter I bought from you to meassure the noise level of my CCC stubbies. I measured the sound level as you told me:

baffles in idle: 92dB 3000rpm: 96db

baffles out idle:98db 3000rpm: 103dB


There was a thread where you had collected sound levels of the std. CCC cans but I can't find it to add this info

Interesting stuff Kev.

Just one question.

How did the baffles affect the Air fuel ratio?

For me personally, the power difference is so small, I would not even bother with the open pipes and the massive amount of noise it generates.

It might be possible that the pipes with the baffles installed might perform very similar to the open pipes if you addressed the air fuel ratio slightly.

Also, nice HP output, no matter what you had on.

What mods were the Xt running and was the rear tyre a slick.road type of something more like an XTR rear tyre?

Freez unfortunately I did not run the tests as a tuning session. It was done to see the difference between the baffles being in & out on a pre set bike.

The test was run on my mates XT660X the bike had my fuel mod on set to 10 below the actual spec + air filter & air box mod & my CCC with baffles out & TPS advanced to 25. The bike had the STD Pirelli XTX road tyre that it came with.

I am sure with a power commander it could be set up much better as we all know the Yamaha fuel map is not set for performance. But not bad performance from some cheap mods.
