charging smartphone while navigating
Hi guys,
i have a 2- usb socket that's fitted to the extra power supply near the headlight. when navigating on my smartphone, i'm not getting enough juice to keep it charged. the phone is charging, wich can be seen on the phone. don't know how to fix this, nothing else is using power at the time, from that connection. Hannes. |

The problem is your phone needs more power than the USB port is giving. Is the USB port a 1.0A by any chance ?
You will have to change it to a 2.1A, but it will depend on the phone. My Motorola takes up to 10A on a fast charge, but it charges good enough over 1.0A or 2.1A during a ride. I don't use it for navigation though. These dual power units are what I use -> https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-Dual-...UAAOSw5i5cPnO3

I have a 2 port USB socket outlet on mine, one socket is a 1A the other is a 2.1A and the phone only gets enough power from the 2.1A port

the 2A declaration on the cap may be the TOTAL output provided by the charge socket, so 1A + 1A.
I use an app/widget on my android phone called Ampere https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...v.ampere&hl=en you can setup a widget on the home screen that tells you what the present charging current is and also the discharge current is, very useful you might want to make sure you have a quality usb cable too, Dave |

i just installed that app too and it says i'm only charging 480 mA on one port, the second port only 380mA. both with original chargercable... i might have to check on those connections, or maybe it's just the design that's limited to 0.5mA per port |
