Adventure spec bash plate
Hi guys just wondering if anyone has fitted a adv-spec bash plate to their xtz as I'm struggling fitting a 2nd hand one? when i remove the stock plastic plate the adv one baulks on the two metal wings that are welded to the frame mounting bracket. If i take the frame mounting bracket off, i can fit the new one but cannot replace the mounting bracket. Adv-Spec advertise a fitting kit but not sure if this is just the stainless bolts or is it for a special bracket or two??
Thanks in advance for any input :-) |

Hi Sprocket
just fitted one last week! I had to remove the mounting bracket from the metal mule one that was on there, remove the regulator to get access to the lower engine mount bolt, take it out and fit up the plate, then use the longer bolt supplied with the kit. The plate should then pivot up into place where you can fit the rear bolt and spacer. didnt have any issues with stuff getting in the way once i figured out which engine mounting bolt to remove its a pretty solid plate, but i've got a pretty bad vibration/resonance on mine, will have to go back and nip all the bolts a bit tighter Dave |

Hi Dave thanks for the reply. Have sussed it out now. Been off the spanners for too long, needed to walk away, have a brew and see it in a different light. I took the whole bracket with the wings for fitting the plastic one off, 4 bolts, mated it to the Adv bracket stuck the new longer bolt through to hold them together then slipped it in place under the exhaust front pipes, removed the long bolt, shoved to up a-bit more and slipped the new bolt home. Fits like a glove and looks like it can withstand the most harsh terrain out there. Very pleased. Only just finished it so haven't ridden it but if i get the same noises as yourself i'll update you.
Many thanks again Steve |
