Crankshaft end feed Oil Seal, and probably an old argument / discussion

Having taken the RHS crank case off at least 5 times in the last 5 months (finally think I got to the bottom of the knocking).
The manual seems to show the oil seal the wrong way round.

Would love hear people’s thoughts.
Also I blued up the seal in two places when removing the RHS crankcase on Saturday just to show the seal sits perfectly when seated the correct way round with the spring toward the high pressure fluid (the wrong way round according to the manual).
I am not a litigation man, just prefer good engineering practice as a draftsman could easily have made a mistake, which does happen in many trades.
