Front wheel axle nut not going in all the way

So I took down my X front wheel to change the brake disc but now Im stuck putting it back. The axle doesnt go all the way in, it jams somewhere half-way through. Tried from both sides with the same results. Any idea on how to fix this?

I tried with and without the wheel. It only goes half-way then stops. I dont think I managed to damage the thread, at least I hope so.

Even tried from the other side and its kinda the same, goes in a bunch then stops.

The axle should go all the way through to the other side right? Even without the wheel and spacers, it should reach the other side.

Are you talking about the top(wide) part of the axle bolt not going the whole way (flush) into the fork leg?
