R Wheels on an X?

I'd like to get a set of dirt wheels for my XT 660 X. Found a lot of topics of people doing supermoto conversion from an R but not the other way around.

Anyone with experience doing this swap?

Can I swap the wheels from and XT 660 R onto a X without hassle. Rear should be a straight swap. I checked part numbers for the front an all for the hubs and spacers are the same but not for the rims and spokes. Should work then you'd think... however the guys doing the mod the other way around had to make custom spacers -> such as here. Maybe this was due to them coming from a different brake setup? But I'd like to keep my X disc and caliper.

Njet?

Looks like an R rim might hit the protruding parts on the X fork legs were the small fender mounts. Didn't think of this at first. Anyone can confirm this?
