New announcement, please all read

As you all know by now, on 31st December 2019 we will go off line for good.

However on Dec 31st 2018, i.e. in 5 months time two more things will change here.

1) XT Supporter Memberships will no longer be accepted because we have promised that our commitment to all supporters is for one year, so we don't want to short change people by taking fees for less than the 12 months, and for the same reasons, we will also stop renewal of existing memberships on that same date 31st Dec 2018

2) Doors will be shut to all new members, meaning who's in is in and who's out is out. The forum cannot be joined by new members after that date. However "visitors" can still read our public threads, except that they won't be able to post or reply.

Sad time peeps, I know but what needs must, I hope you all appreciate that I am allowing one last year in which to benefit from our forum, at least I didn't shut it suddenly, leaving everyone clueless.

Peace, love and happiness to you all

Dear friends while our forum will continue to exist until 31st Dec 2019, I just wanted to remind everyone that the XT Supporter scheme will not allow new members to join or existing members to renew their membership in 15 days.

That means if you want to join or renew you will have one last year to benefit from the scheme, so that me and Kev can offer you a full year worth of membership benefits.

And also this goes out to all those who read the forum without being a registered member, if you want to join this forum for the last year, you've only got 15 days left to make your mind up. After which who's in is in and who's out will stay out until the 31st Dec 2019 when the curtains come down for good.

Hello CaptMoto,
just want to say thanks for all you have done with this forum. Great Job.

Also is there a simple way to save the info in the forum as there is so much & not knowing what will be needed in the future when a problem arises, I have saved some of the content of certain subjects by saving it page by page which is a long process seems a lot harder to search through, any tip would be great.
Many Thanks.

For me, it was a case of looking through the 'tech section / home page' for the most commonly mentioned problem areas as, perhaps, statistically these will be issues to raise their ugly heads, things like rectifier problems and the symptoms and the noisy output gear that's loosened off. Once found, screen-capture or download in someway. Don't forget to download the full Tenere workshop manual.

I would advise you contact Kev by private message and ask him to sell you a copy of the complete XT660.com encyclopedia which he compiled a few years ago and has been kept updated to most recent times and it includes all the service manuals as well as any of the approved mods which have been posted in the 15 years that we have been on line. By approved we mean the ones which have been proved to work and have been given our green light for safe posting on our forum

Many thanks for all that you have achieved and time spent with many long hours keeping the forum together. I for one had an incredible time since 2008 reading and participating n the forum posts and made many friends some of which I still communicate with even though I am not an active member now.

I am still very proud that my post from 2008 in the Technical section is the third most viewed post I started on the 2008 model issue regarding the oil breather drain pipe filling with oil due to high speed road cruising until they did the modification on the 2009 model with a revised oil tank that the breather pipe runs into. The views are approximately 18 thousand!

Many happy memories and people over the years! Sad but all good things come to an end. My best regards to all in the future and time to look forward to the next generation XT the Tenere 700 that I ordered and hope to take delivery in September. May the XT live on forever!

thanks Mark Stride "Stridey"

I have just received a note that my membership expires soon.
Shame because if I'm locked out of this site I will just delete the site from my bookmarks....................
...........................................and I am the one that has attended every XT meet since I got a Ten in 08.................and participated in all of the meets that Darren originally organised and I have organised the last few meets.
Its notable that no-one has volunteered to organise a last 'hurrah' for the site.
I am still organising meets for the ABR crowd and the Thumper club but draw the line when I try for this group and get no response.
Perhaps that's why the Captain has said enough is enough.

Shame really.......Steve
