Oil leaking from water pump
Hi, have already posted in tech section, no response , so can anyone help, changed my seals in water pump a while ago, with genuine parts, all was well, but I've got a ever so slight oil weep coming from the small hole, it really is very slight, not dripping, sooooo, is this normal, anything to worry about or likely to get worse. Reason asking, I'm about to go on a trip, so need to put my mind at rest. Thanks in advance

I'm crap at anything like posting pics, wait till me daughter comes round, thanks for responding, just wondering if it was normal, it's not dripping, just a very slight weep really...after 6 months of changing the seals, only done about 500 miles ?

Just an opinion. It shouldn't leak oil, antifreeze maybe, but very very slight leak, hardly noticeable. Usual reasons:
a- mistake during installation of the oil seal b- defective new oil seal, which is rare c- bad bearing on the oil pump will destroy new seal very fast Petre |

Thanks for getting back to me, my thoughts aswell, but I did change bearings and both seals, pretty sure I fitted them right , nothing was untoward as I remember. It's funny really as it's not a leak as such, not dripping as I've said, it's just a damp finger really, a very slight weep, but don't think it should do it. Not sure whether to leave it and see what happens, sort of suck it and see....your thoughts gents.

if its weeping now and your about to go off on a road trip then imho I would change it..how would you manage if it happens on the road etc? And its peace of mind.
