Tyre pressures
Hello everyone. I'm a new joiner here after obtaining a nice late low mileage Tenere.
Riding back from Norfolk to North Hertfordshire was enjoyable but I noticed a slow-speed, abt 25 - 30 Mph, weave with no input from me. I've since experimented a little with tyre pressures and the situation does not seem to be improving. Are these bikes very sensitive to tyre pressures of does anyone know what's going on here? I've got a few different motorcycles but haven't encountered this effect before. Any hints most welcome! Cheers Ed |

Hi,and Welcome.
I assume you have the correct tyre pressures based on weight etc so what kinda condition are the tyres themselves in?.. Biggest difference to my bike,it's an R,in terms of stability was when I changed the perfectly looking original tyres. |

Tyre Pressures
Hello & thanks for the reply.
The bike has done less than 3000 miles and has the original "Tourance" rubber. I've tried a few different pressures, (around 29 to 35psi) in a few front/rear combinations but it still feels odd and unstable when going slowly or negotiating slow corners. The bike is a 2014 registration so, obviously, has been laid up for an extended period somewhere, and not doing anything. There's only a side stand so wherever it was laid, up all the bikes' weight was on those tyres, all of the time. I think I'll get the wheels off of the ground to spin them to check if they're running true, or not.... |

Welgud, even though the bike has not done many miles you need to check and grease the steering head bearings. There is little or no grease on them from new. I could almost guarantee that lubing this bearing will cure your wallowly steering. I think the best tyres for road use are Trail Attacks by Continental.

If it's been stood on the tyres then I would change them..Im sure you know the profile is damaged with a potential flat spot or two.
I used Avon Trailriders..sure footed and they stick like the proverbial to the blanket |

+1 on changing tyres. From memory, the Tourances were often given a negative review and new hoops will always be a good thing, especially as your originals are both old and half worn. Also the grease thing is a good idea.
