Just passed 60k and Id like to do a thorough check. So far I have on my list the wheel bearings, various seals/gaskets (like oil filter), water pump kit, check the timing chain, valve clearance. The swingarm bearings might also be worn out, havent checked but saw they are more expensive than the wheel bearings.

Will also do a service on the forks, the rear shock doesnt seem to be serviceable so Im gonna have to look for another solution.

Also need a new chain kit, Id like more oomph than top speed, would a 45 be ok for the rear?

Any other things I should check/repair/replace? Id like to put 50k more on it and it needs to be in good shape.

is it a Tenere? A Tenere rear sprocket is 45 as standard matched to a 15 up front. Personal choices, but I'd recommend a rear 46.

As for servicing, I'd humbly suggest draining water coolant and removing the radiator and, carefully, making sure the fins are clear of flies, sand and mice and flush out from the back to the front.

Whilst your tank is off and your doing valves, I would perhaps unclip and lift the main loom away from the frame and check for rub marks. Repair if required and if not replace with bicycle inner tube between the loom and the bike frame for protection, all zip tied in.

The rear sprocket carrier has its own bearing which makes 3 for the rear wheel. Whilst that's out, check the cush drive / sprocket shock rubbers for wear which causes early bearing failure.

Have a look at the clutch cable at the lever end for fraying.

i am currently testing 14/46 gearing.(comming from 15/46 wich seems just a tad bit too long for me).
brings the bike more to life.
too short for extended highway use though but perfect for everything else,say upto 100km/h it's still cruizing.
might go back to 15t front but try 48t rear.
just to give you some extra options before you place the order for a new sprocket set ;-)

Sorry shouldve mentioned it is a 2007 XT660X.

I am changing the whole radiator, had a crash and it is bent. Coolant is also on the list along with the other liquids I change twice a year.

Tank has a dent I need to fix, so I will probably check it and everything under, good idea with the rubber dampners.

Will get a new chain kit after I figure out the gearing. Id like more torque and less speed.

Cush drives, wheel bearing, etc are on my list. I have a new clutch cable, and will check the clutch springs and plates for wear, probably going to change the springs if the plates are ok.
