Air in brakes
Hey guys,
So today decided to change the front braking pads of the tenere. the reservoir was still pretty full so I decided to bleed the brakes a bit to create room for pushback with new pads. It seems my cheap ass bleeder set is leaking at the little outlet valve for draining on the brake and so it sucked in a little air while trying to bleed I assume. The brakes feel squishy wish is casual for air in the system. Anyone to give me a help ? I need a decent bleeder set and do I just keep bleeding the brake in which I sucked in air or do I bleed both brakes etc ? Can't seem to get it feel better again. |

you will only have drawn air into the caliper/line you were working on..you can get a one man bleed kit from Gunson or use a piece of tube and get help to pump the brake as you bleed the system.

Well What I did was , Pull the lever so pressure is built up, then open the valve , fluid comes out , but it makes a lot of noise like a lot of air comes out , I still hold the lever squeshed against the handlebar now , close the valve and let go of the lever. Then I redid it on both calipers but result isn't like 'good' bleeded brakes. Again could it be that the hose isn't fitting on well and sucks in air ? there is still a vacuum but that can be the only reason for it to not bleed well ?

You have to keep doing it till all the air comes out on the same side/line.
Do one side only.. BUT if your wanting to do a fluid change(I would) do the same for the other line. Keep the brake fluid topped up otherwise you will end up doing it all again. |
