| Immobiliser system and key
             Dear friends,
When I bought my XTR, seller gave me only one key and told me he hadn't got spare key from old seller. That's OK. Today, i tried to knıw if my motorcycle has immobiliser on or off. I installed key and turn on, then released key and put it my pocket, last pressed start button. Ta daa!! Engine worked! I have two question, first, does this mean my bike has cancelled immobiliser? If yes, I can copy key easily. Second is, is it normal i can release key when ignition is on and motorcycle is running? What do you reccommend to do to me? |

Sounds like the key is worn to me..shouldnt come out with the engine running. Hopefully its not the barrel too.

Mine has a non factory alarm fitted...I have a dedicated alarm fob that arms/disarms the alarm/imobiliser.
So whilst the key does operate the on/off ignition lock etc it has nothing to do with the alarm system. |

An immobilizer emulator is available from china. It replaces the immobilzer card. If this has been installed, you can cut a blank key and it will work.
If the mechanism is worn but still has an immobilzer, i would think that it would have shut down with the removal of the key which has a RFID tag in it. |
