Chosen not to upgrade filter/fueling/exhaust?

For my education: Anybody chosen NOT to upgrade filter/fueling/exhaust, and in that case, why not

done the fuelling mods by Kev and end cans but not done air filter or anything on the induction side, there is just not enough power gain from the motor to make it worth while, they are low compression motors. if you want more power buy a more powerful bike

I can't tell you why not..
But I can tell you why I did...

Exhaust, high 2 into 1 MM unit..
was to lose weight &
gain 60mm of ground clearance
even with the bash plate it still
has 20mm more clearance than
with the standard low pipes...

Kev's fueling mods were simply to make the bike
nicer to ride at lower speeds.. no surging..

Air filter.. I put a oiled foam OTR unit in.. no
power gain with it..but I don't have to worry about
water with the yamaha papper unit or dust getting
though the DNA / K&N style filters..

my bike is a XTR....

I found that there was no need for me to chase power from my Tenere. I liked it as it was.

All I did was get it to fuel better with the Kev O2 mod, which was good. The single best thing I did was fit an Ohlins shock to replace the utter disgrace that was OEM. Followed by the rear chain guide mod which removed the necessity for me to chase perfect chain adjustment, and thus the fear of chain derailment.

Barry White i love you just the way you are

I have decided to keep my Ten stock,, even though when i bought it it was half modded,,, with the air duct gone and a single slip on can which was just a bird scarer.
I had all the original exhaust and got a new air duct. and what i am trying to say,,,, i think the Ten is fine stock good power in all gears nice sound not to loud rides well . I love it just the way it is .

I have actually bought a fine looking MTC exhaust almost two years ago, but did not get around to fit it for the 2017 season.

But i tried for the 2018 season but could not get the header tubes to seperate from the oem exhaust. After a lot of violence i gave up so it still looking damn fine but have not heard it...

There is no room in the frame for heating without taking out the airfilter box but i might give it a go again this winter - and be prepared to destroy the oem exhaust and header pipes in the process ....

Don't think that anybody offers stainless steel downpipes for the xt660z at the moment - otherwise it would be an excuse to just cut if off and go stainless
